The retail park with a leasable area of 9,000 sq m was opened in Turda on the 22nd of September. It is the fourth retail facility by the Polish company Scallier, which is developing a network of retail parks in Romania. Previously, the facilities in Rosiorii de Vede, Focsani and Timisoara were commissioned. After the opening of the facility in Turda, the total volume of modern retail space for lease developed by Scallier amounted to over 31,000 sq m. The company is working on the construction and commercialization of further retail projects in Romania and is actively looking for land for further investments.
Turda is a city located in the north of Romania. About 50,000 people live in it. The new retail park, together with the Kaufland chain store, will create a traditional retail location with a rich offer and a great competitive advantage over other commercial locations in the region. The main tenants in the new retail park include Tedi, New Yorker, Hervis, DM, CCC, Deichmann, Flanco, Animax, ZooCenter, KiK and Noriel. There will be also new restaurants and a local fitness.
“The needs reported by retail chains for modern space in smaller Romanian cities exceed the supply. Retail chains need facilities with high standards that guarantee the comfort of use both by customers and by people employed to operate them. There is still a shortage of such properties in many cities in Romania” – emphasizes Adrian Aleman, Development Director in the Romanian branch of Scallier. “Our properties are flexible projects that meet the needs and expectations of local communities, including local entrepreneurs, because apart from large retail chains, our tenants are also people who run commercial and service projects on a much smaller scale. Such a diversified offer, along with an extensive gastronomic offer, is expected by the inhabitants of Romanian cities who do not want to give up their shopping habits. So we meet the expectations of both tenants and customers” – emphasizes Adrian Aleman.
“Retail parks developed by Scallier are built in small and medium-sized Romanian cities, introducing a new, commercial quality to their markets. These facilities are tailored to the requirements of both retail chains and local communities, and their structure, including the financial model based on the settlement of rents in EUR, additionally increases their attractiveness to international investors. In this way, we contribute to the creation of a modern commercial ecosystem in Romania in areas that so far have been largely deprived of such an offer” – emphasizes Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier responsible for the company’s development in the Romanian market.
The retail park in Turda will be certified under the international BREEAM certification system, similarly to other retail parks developed by Scallier in Romania.
