A new retail park will be built in Vaslui, a city in eastern Romania with a population of around 50,000 inhabitants. The Polish company Scallier has obtained a building permit for a retail park with a leasable area of 9,975 sqm. The facility is scheduled to be put into service in 2022. The commercialization of the project is also progressing – over 4,000 sqm of space offered by the new project is already leased, and the tenants include such brands as New Yorker, Hervis, Designer Outlet and ZOO Center. Advanced talks with other tenants are underway. The retail park in Vaslui will be the fifth property developed by Scallier in Romania: after retail projects opened last year in Rosiorii de Vede and Focsani and are already under construction in Turda and Timisoara.
“We are consistently implementing the plan for the development of retail parks in Romanian cities, building a balanced portfolio of real estate generating stable income based on contracts with recognized international and local brands. Our properties are tailored to local conditions as much as possible and are of great interest to retail chains: spaces in our facilities are rented before they are put into use so that when they are opened, we can offer consumers an interesting and complementary offer that meets their basic needs“- says Wojciech Jurga, Managing Partner at Scallier, responsible for managing the company’s development in Romania. “The facilities built by Scallier are built-in traditionally commercial locations. In the immediate vicinity of the retail parks under construction, there are large-format stores of recognized brands with, among others, a wide range of food products. Thanks to this, we create locations with great retail potential, attracting the inhabitants of not only the cities in which they are located but also the inhabitants of the surrounding towns” – emphasizes Wojciech Jurga.
“Thanks to the priority effect, we effectively build awareness of new commercial locations and attract both local and international retail chains, including tenants with stringent requirements regarding the quality of space, which until now have been lacking on local markets” – adds Adrian Aleman, Development Director at the Romanian branch of Scallier. “It should also be noted that the high quality of our properties is emphasized by the ecological BREEAM certificates. All the facilities we implement are certified under this international assessment system” – says Adrian Aleman.
The tenants of retail parks built by Scallier in Romania and already operating are Sinsay, Pepco, KiK, Animax, Hervis, Martes Sport, Jysk, CCC, Deichmann and Flanco.
